Steve Hellen is a technology and information management leader with more than two decades of experience helping organizations make sense of complexity and deliver measurable results. His work bridges strategy and implementation—bringing clarity, accountability, and purpose to how data and digital tools are used across humanitarian, development, and education sectors.
Before founding Pragmatique, Steve led information management at the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining, where he modernized global digital systems and guided the ethical use of emerging technologies. Earlier, as Senior Director for IT Field Systems at Catholic Relief Services, he helped international teams use data and technology to strengthen programs and improve outcomes for the communities they serve.
Steve holds a Master’s in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University, a Bachelor’s in Engineering Science from Loyola University Maryland, and a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from Penn State University. He brings a pragmatic, collaborative approach that helps organizations align technology with mission, build capacity, and achieve lasting impact.
